Understanding the issue

The RBI Integrated Ombudsman Scheme 2021 is a free, expeditious grievance redressal mechanism for banking customers. Before approaching the Ombudsman, you must first complain to your bank and wait 30 days for resolution. If unsatisfied, file a complaint on the Complaint Management System at cms.rbi.org.in, call 14448, or send a physical complaint to the Centralised Receipt and Processing Centre. The Ombudsman handles complaints about: deficiency in banking services, non-adherence to RBI directions, delays in payments or collections, unauthorized debits, unfair charges, non-observance of fair practices code, and issues with digital banking. The Ombudsman can award compensation up to Rs. 20 lakhs. The decision is binding on the bank but you can appeal if not satisfied.
