Understanding the issue
RBI guidelines strictly prohibit harassment by loan recovery agents. Agents cannot call before 8 AM or after 7 PM, cannot visit your workplace, cannot use threats or abusive language, and cannot contact your family or friends. Digital lending apps are also regulated. If harassed, you can complain to the bank, RBI, and police.
When to see a lawyer
Consult a lawyer if harassment continues despite complaints, if recovery agents have damaged property, or if you want to file a civil suit for damages.
