Understanding the issue

The Consumer Protection Act gives you 6 basic rights: safety, information, choice, hearing, redressal, and education. If you receive a defective product, misleading advertisement, or deficient service, you can file a complaint with the Consumer Commission. Complaints can be filed online at edaakhil.nic.in. You can claim refund, replacement, or compensation.

When to see a lawyer

You can file consumer complaints yourself without a lawyer. Consult a lawyer if the claim amount is large, if the company is contesting, or if you need to appeal.
