Child in Danger
A child is being abused, exploited, or is in distress
Do this now
- 01Call 1098 (CHILDLINE) immediately — they provide 24/7 help for children in distress
- 02If the child is in immediate physical danger, also call 112 (Police Emergency)
- 03If you suspect child sexual abuse, file at cybercrime.gov.in (for online) or the nearest police station
- 04Under POCSO Act, ANY person who knows about child sexual abuse MUST report it — not reporting is an offence
- 05Take the child to the nearest hospital if medical attention is needed
- 06Document what you have witnessed — dates, times, and details help investigation
- 07Contact the Child Welfare Committee in your district for long-term protection
Do NOT do this
- Do NOT confront the abuser alone — let the police handle it
- Do NOT delay reporting — every minute matters for a child's safety
- Do NOT ignore signs of abuse — bruises, fear, withdrawal, or inappropriate behavior
- Do NOT share the child's identity publicly — this is illegal under POCSO Act
